Sabīne Šnē is a visual artist and educator who explores relationships between humans and more-than-humans, focusing on how organisms and elements sustain life on Earth and how they are affected by resource exploitation and extraction. Her work spans moving image, sound, sculpture, creative writing and drawing. Šnē’s practice is rooted in her rural upbringing in Latvia, shaped by intergenerational knowledge passed down from grandparents and informed by scientific research, posthumanism theory and fiction. Curiosity about living beings and care for them continue to inspire her creative process, alongside an urge to emphasise how our lives are interconnected with those of others, and how ecology is inseparable from political, social and economic systems.
Šnē holds an MFA from the Art Academy of Latvia (2022). For her graduation work, she received the ACADEMIA Award and was part of the ACME Studios Early Career Programme in London (2023).
